Gents + Waterbased

Od svojho debutového EP „Embrace the Future“ (2015) si kodaňské duo GENTS na čele s spevákom Nielsom Fejrskovom Juhlom získalo fanúšikov po celom svete. Po boku milovníka mäkkých syntetizátorov Theisa Vesterløkkeho absolvovali títo dvaja samozvaní “spa-pop’ári” cestu od úvodných supportov až po vystúpenia na festivaloch SPOT, Roskilde Festival a Store VEGA. Na medzinárodnej scéne vypredali koncerty v Paríži a Berlíne a absolvovali mnoho turné po celej Európe vrátane festivalov ako Iceland Airwaves, By:Larm a Reeperbahn. Vďaka tomu sa GENTS stali skúsenou koncertnou skupinou, ktorá hráva od veľkolepých choreografických divadelných predstavení až po pochybné bary v európskych prímestských mestách – vždy s charakteristickou intenzitou a showmanstvom GENTS. 

GENTS vydali tri albumy: „About Time“ (2017), „Human Connection“ (2019) a „Souvenir“ (2022), pričom všetky získali uznanie kritiky v národnej i medzinárodnej hudobnej tlači, vrátane titulnej strany Politiken iByen, recenzie v The Line of Best Fit, ako aj množstvo vysielania v dánskom národnom rádiu P3.

Waterbased, slovenské duo Julls Mihalyiová a Ľubo Krajňák tvoriace v Prahe, spája nežnosť a intimitu ľudskosti s vnútorným výbuchom pocitov. Spojenie má v sebe organizmus krásy a tŕnia, ktorý ukazuje súboj temnej impulzívnosti. Človeka sprítomňuje a prepája s vlastnými prežitkami. Projekt bol v roku 2020 nominovaný v kategórii Objav roka Radio Head Awards. Český Magazín Fullmoon zaradil duo medzi „11 nádejí zo Slovenska“ (2021). Svoju hudbu už stihli odprezentovať na festivaloch ako  SHARPE (SK) , Beseda u bigbítu (CZ) alebo Takt (SRB). Po dvojročnej práci a odohratých koncertoch prichádzajú Waterbased s prvými singlami z pripravovaného debutového albumu, Silent Regions. Album prinesie texty písané z miesta nepokoja. Z miesta, ktoré hľadá identitu a spochybňuje isté črty spoločnosti. Poslucháč sa ponára do organizmu spovede, kde priestor zhmotňuje sound dizajn producentov Isama Zing a Aid Kid. Hudobné trenie žánrov dream/art popu, noisy, trip hopu vytvára generatívne originálne kombinácie transformovaných telies v úmyselnej hre. Prvé single z albumu Silent Regions L.gain a Polaroid vyšli koncom roka 2022 na všetkých platformách.

Album vychádza v marci 2023 pod vydavateľstvom Deadred a na jarnom turné po slovenských a českých mestách ho odprezentujú aj v košickej Tabačke. Waterbased rozšírili svoju koncertnú zostavu a už teraz ich môžete vidieť hrať spolu s bubeníkom  John Clardy z kultovej americkej kapely Tera Melos.

EN: Since their debut EP ‘Embrace the Future’ (2015) Copenhagen-duo GENTS, fronted by crooner Niels Fejrskov Juhl, has gained fans all over the world. Flanked by soft-synth aficionado Theis Vesterløkke, the two self-proclaimed spa-pop’ers have taken the journey from initial support slots to shows on SPOT Festival, Roskilde Festival and Store VEGA. Internationally, they have sold out shows in Paris and Berlin and been on countless tours all across Europe, including festivals such as Iceland Airwaves, By:Larm and Reeperbahn. This has turned GENTS into a seasoned touring act, playing anything from grandiose, choreographed theatre-shows to dubious bars in European commuter towns – always with the characteristic GENTS’y intensity and showmanship. 

GENTS have released three albums, ‘About Time’ (2017), ‘Human Connection’ (2019) and ’souvenir’ (2022), all of which to critical acclaim in the national and international music press, including Politiken iByen’s front cover, reviews in The Line of Best Fit as well as plenty of airplay on Danish National Radio P3.

Waterbased, a Slovak duo of Julls Mihalyiová and Ľubo Krajňák based in Prague, combines the tenderness and intimacy of humanity with an inner explosion of feelings. The connection has within it an organism of beauty and thorn, which shows the battle of dark impulsiveness. In 2020, the project was nominated in the Discovery of the Year category of the Radio Head Awards. Czech magazine Fullmoon included the duo among the „11 hopes from Slovakia“ (2021). They have already managed to present their music at festivals such as SHARPE (SK), Beseda u bigbítu (CZ) or Takt (SRB). After two years of work and concerts, Waterbased are releasing first singles from the upcoming debut album, Silent Regions. The album will bring lyrics written from a place of unrest. From a place that searches for identity and questions certain features of society. The listener immerses himself in the organism of the confession, where the space is materialized by the sound design of producers Isama Zing and Aid Kid. The musical friction of dream/art pop, noise, trip hop genres creates generative original combinations of transformed bodies in a deliberate game. First two singles from the album Silent Regions, L.gain and Polaroid are already out on all streaming platforms. 

The album will be released in March 2023 under the Deadred label and on their spring tour of Slovak and Czech cities they will present it also in Tabačka in Košice. Waterbased have expanded their touring line-up and you can already see them playing together with drummer John Clardy from the cult American band Tera Melos.
